Bhutan PM and PM Modi jointly launch RuPay Card Phase 2
PM Modi and Bhutanese PM Lotay Tshering jointly launched the second phase of the RuPay Card on Friday.
Through this measure, Bhutanese RuPay card holders will now be able to access the RuPay network in India.
The launch was held through the video conferencing mode. While delivering the speech, PM Modi talked about the deep relationship between the two countries. He also mentioned about ISRO’s preparations for launching the Bhutanese satellites and BSNL’s agreement with the country for 3rd international internet getaway.
The phase 1 had been launched jointly by both countries’ Prime Ministers in August last year, on PM Modi’s visit to Bhutan.
The RuPay card is an Indian debit and credit card payment network, that is accepted across all payment modes.
