Bhima Koregaon accused granted bail on medical grounds

• On Monday, the Bombay High Court issued bail to Bhima Koregaon, 82, who convicted Dr Varavara Rao on medical grounds.

• Upon provision of a bail bond of Rs. 50,000/- the Court granted the octogenarian bail for a term of six months.

• In two separate appeals, the order was passed by the Bench of Justices SS Shinde and Manish Pitale - one by Rao pleading for bail and the other by his wife, Pendyala Hemlatha, requesting interference by the Court in view of the suspected breach of his constitutional right to health.

• On February 1, the Court had reserved its decision.
