Bachpan Bachao Andolan moves Madras HC for assist in ensuring implementation of Juvenile Justice Act

• The Madras High Court has been moved by NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan to assist the Court in overseeing the proper execution of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Safety of Children) Act 2015 in accordance with the 2018 directives of the Supreme Court in Sampurna Behura v. Union of India & Ors.

• On Tuesday morning, after the matter was stated, the PIL was tagged by the Bench of Justices M Sathyanarayanan and R Hemalatha along with the suo motu writing pending to be heard next month before the Madras High Court.

• Along with Advocate Adithya Reddy, the NGO was represented by Advocate Pragyan Sharma.

• The petitioner adds that RTI responses collected in 2019 shed more light on a very bleak state of affairs when it comes to the consistency of problems in Tamil Nadu's Juvenile Justice Boards and Child Welfare Committees.
