Australia reopens borders for the first time in pandemic

• On Monday, international border restrictions were eased in Australia for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

• Australia’s vaccinated public will now be allowed to travel freely, and many families will be reunited with their loved ones.

• Passengers arrived in Sydney on the first flight from Singapore and Los Angeles and were greeted by friends and family members with tears in their eyes whom they had not seen for several months.

• Airline staff welcomed the travellers by holding banners and gifting them Australian wildflowers and chocolate biscuits.
