Aung San Suu Kyi made first appearance since coup on Myanmar State TV

  • On Monday, Myanmar's state television broadcast images of deposed leader Aung San Suu Kyi for the first time since her detention nearly four months earlier, revealing her first in-person court appearance since her arrest.

  • Suu Kyi, 75, was seen in the port, seated upright with her hands in her lap and sporting a surgical mask, according to MRTV's nightly news bulletin.

  • Former President Win Myint and another defendant, former Vice President Aung San Suu Kyi, stood beside her.

  • During a 30-minute consultation with her legal team, Suu Kyi appeared to be in good shape, but she said she didn't have access to newspapers in prison and was only slightly aware of what was going on outside, according to Khin Maung Zaw, the head of her legal team.
