Assam gets first female Finance Minister
Assam CM Hemant Biswa on Tuesday distributed portfolios to 13 ministers in his cabinet, a day after all of them took oath on Monday.
Five time MLA Ajanta Neong was given the portfolio of the Finance department, as a result of which she becomes the first female Finance minister of the state.
The cabinet comprises of 11 MLAs from the BJP part, while two others are from the alliance partner- Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and one from the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL).
After being sworn in on Monday, CM Sarma stated that controlling the spread of the Covid-19 would be the first priority of his government and even the first cabinet meeting on Tuesday was regarding the government's strategy on the same.
