Assam declares Bench and Bar members as "front-line workers" for booster dose

  • All judges, judicial officers, other officers and staff of the Gauhati High Court and Subordinate Courts in the state of Assam, including lawyers appearing in various courts, and all officers and staff of different prisons in the state of Assam, will be considered Front Line Workers for the purpose of COVID Vaccination, according to the Assam State Govt.

  • The notice was sent in regards to precautionary doses that would be delivered to Health Care Workers, Front Line Workers, and individuals over 60 with co-morbidities throughout the state beginning January 10, 2022.

  • According to the Notification, all eligible officers/staff of the aforementioned institutions who have completed 39 weeks (9 months) since the second dose of vaccination are eligible to receive the precautionary dose of COVID vaccine, as per the guidelines issued for the precautionary dose of vaccination, with immediate effect.

  • Significantly, the State Government has regarded all state government employees as front-line workers, particularly those involved in maintaining law and order, ranging from police officers to judicial and jail officials who offer public service notwithstanding the impact of COVID.
