ASI unearths 900-year old Monastery. Check out what it means

  • A 900-year old Buddhist Monastery was unearthed by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Hazariabagh district of Jharkhand.

  • ASI had unearthed the sculpture of a fiery which it believed to be of the Shaivite diety Maheshwari indicating cultural assimilation in the area.

  • ASI had found ten sculptures of deity Tara and Buddha. Notably it had also found a Buddhist shrine with three room near an agricultural land on the eastern side Juljul Pahar. Interestingly this is a significant finding in terms of spread of Buddhism in Jharkhand.
