Asaram sent to Judicial Custody in Cheating Case after hearing at Jodhpur Court

• In a case of deception involving the alleged supplying of bogus papers before the Supreme Court five years ago, a court sentenced self-styled godman Asaram to judicial prison on Thursday.

• Asaram is now incarcerated in the Jodhpur Central Jail after being convicted of sexual exploitation of a minor.

• Ratanada police escorted him out of prison on a production warrant.

• According to the police, the case against Asaram was filed in 2016 after his follower Ravi Rai Marwah filed a bail petition for him based on papers concerning his health that he claimed to have obtained from the Jodhpur jail through an RTI request.
