As Punjab Congress crisis looms, CM Singh told to set deadline for poll promises

  • AICC general secretary in-charge of Punjab, Harish Rawat on Wednesday stated that Congress President Sonia Gandhi will make decisions on the Punjab government and the party's revitalisation between July 8 and July 10.

  • The panel which had been set to look into the persisting crisis in the party's Punjab unit, has asked Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh for the time-bound implementation and fulfilment of the 18 poll promises of the party- which includes, including action on Bargari sacrilege, drug issues, sand mining and transport mafia.

  • The committee has also asked the CM to ensure 200 units of power free per urban household and act on SC scholarships.

  • On the question of who will be the party's CM face in the upcoming 2022 elections, Harish Rawat stated that it will be stated after due consideration when the time comes.

  • Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi today also met state party chief Sunil Jhakkar to look into the crisis and adopt a strategy for the upcoming elections.
