Apex court stays the order to demolish the decommissioned INS Viraat Aircraft
On Wednesday the supreme court of India passed the order to status quo on the demolition of decommissioned INS, Viraat aircraft.
The three - judges bench of CJI (Chief Justice of India) S.A Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Rama Subramanian have passed the order on the plea filed by Enviteach Marine Consultant private limited (EMCPL).
The INS Viraat Indian Navy Aircraft was sold to Shree Ram Shipbreakers last year in an auction for ₹ 65 crores and now the representative company is ready to offer ₹ 100 crores for the ship.
Earlier Bombay High court was looking into this plea and has passed the order to the Ministry of Defence to carefully look into this matter.
However, then EMCPL has sought the plea in the Apex court.
