Aparna Purohit's Anticipatory Bail plea rejected by Allahabad HC

• On Thursday, the Allahabad High Court dismissed the bail plea filed by Aparna Purohit, Amazon Prime Video Head of India, in the case against her in connection with the 'Tandav' web series (Aparna Purohit v. the State of UP).

• The Court claimed that the use of the term "Tandav" as the name of the series may be insulting to the majority of the citizens in the country as it refers to a specific act attributed to Lord Shiva.

• After the Uttar Pradesh Police lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against her, Purohit moved to the High Court.
