Another newborn sold by mother in Afghanistan for food and money

• During the country’s worsening food crisis, another Afghan mother has been forced to sell one of her newborn son to feed the other members of her family.

• The 40-year-old sold her child for $104 to a childless couple and says that this will be able to buy food for her family for six months.

• After the country’s government’s collapse and international aid rapidly drying up, the UN has warned that over half of Afghanistan’s citizens will face starvation this year. • The lady stated, “It was hard. Harder than you can imagine. I gave my child away because of destitution... I was unable to take care of him and I could not afford anything.”
