Andhra CM Jaganmohan Reddy files affidavit before CJI against judge

  • An affidavit was filed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) YS Jaganmohan Reddy before the Chief Justice of India (CJI), SA Bobde, in which he repeated his charges against the Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice and the sitting judge of the Supreme Court, Justice NV Ramana.

  • A letter to CJI Bobde outlining his claims against the judges had been written by Reddy earlier.

  • The affidavit was filed after Reddy was asked to make his "on oath" complaint by the CJI office, sources close to the Chief Minister's team told Bar & Bench.

  • Oath lawsuit simply involves stating a complaint in an affidavit such even if the facts are found to be incorrect, the plaintiff will be held responsible.

  • CJI Bobde has requested a reaction from Justice Ramana to the accusations raised against him, according to several newspaper accounts.

  • Sources close to the office of the CM, however, did not confirm this growth.
