Amid fuel crisis, Sri Lanka shuts down schools from next week
What: Amid the worst economic crisis, Sri Lankan government has ordered to shut down schools and public sector offices from the next week. Due to deep economic crisis, Sri Lanka is facing problems to gather foreign exchange to buy fuel imports. As a result, the country has been bound by fuel crisis too.
Sri Lankan Education Ministry: Sri Lankan has asked all the teachers and schools to conduct online classes from the next week due to prolonged power cuts.
Sri Lankan Home Ministry: "Taking into consideration the severe limits on fuel supply, the weak public transport system and the difficulty in using private vehicles this circular allows minimal staff to report to work from Monday," Sri Lankan Home Ministry said.
Backdrop: Sri Lanka is currently facing power outages for upto 13 hours in a day for the past several months now.
