Airtel and Google sign $1 billion deal

• Google and Airtel have entered into a collaboration with each other further to accelerate the growth of India’s digital ecosystem.

• Google has planned to invest up to the U.S $ 1 billion to create Google for India Digitalization Fund, including equity investment.

• Through its first commercial agreement, the two companies will extend offerings to Airtel covering Android enabled devices.

• The agreement will be likely to remove barriers to smartphone ownership.

• Airtel uses Google’s 5G ready Evolved Packet Core and Software Defined Network platforms to extend Google’s virtualization solutions.
