Ahmadis suffer at hands of Pak Police personnel

• For years Ahmadis being numerically a minority in the Sunni dominated Pakistan have suffered violence and persecution at the hands of the Majority population

• Nearly 50 graves belonging to the Ahmadis have been allegedly desecrated by police and Muslim clerics for using Islamic symbols on gravestones at a cemetery in Pakistan’s Punjab province, a member of an organisation representing the minority community said on Monday

• Notably, in 1974, Pakistan's Parliament had categorised Ahmadis as Non-Muslims

• They are banned from preaching and from travelling to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage.
