Ahead of West Bengal polls, Mamata Banerjee announces benefits

  • West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday announced a set of promises for the residents of the states ahead of 2021 West Bengal legislative assembly polls.

  • Ms.Banerjee announced free tablets for senior students to facilitate their online education, benefiting around 9.5 lakh students.

  • Further, the state government has also proposed a 3% hike in the Dearance allowance (DA) of the state government employees starting next month. This move will cost the state exchequer Rs 2,200 crore.

  • CM Banerjee has also announced a drop in the prices of the RT-PCR test for Covid-19 from the previous Rs1,250 to Rs950.

  • Notable, the legislative assembly polls in the state of West Bengal are due in April-May of 2021, which are expected to see a tough fight between BJP and TMC.
