Ahead of farmers gathering, Haryana suspends internet in 5 districts

• Ahead of the massive Mahapanchayat organised in Karnal today, Haryana Government on Monday suspended internet services in 5 districts of the state: Karnal, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Jind and Panipat.

• The government states it's rationale as maintaining law and order behind the move. Internet services were to be suspended from 12:00 am Tuesday to midnight 24 hours later (11.59 pm).

• “The primary objective of these arrangements is to maintain public peace and order, prevent any kind of violence, facilitate the functioning of traffic and public transport systems and to safeguard public property across the state in general, and Karnal in particular," stated ADGP (law and order) Navdeep Virk.
