Agnipath scheme: Govt raises upper age to 23 for this year after protests
What: The Centre today announced a two-year relaxation in the upper age limit for the Agnipath scheme this year.
Why: The rationale behind the move was that since there was no recruitment in the services “during the last two years”, the ease has been incorporated.
Context: This decision comes after since the announcement of the scheme large groups of youths blocking roads, pelting stones, torching train coaches, and targeting BJP offices and leaders.
