After criticising Lakhimpur violence, Varun and mother Maenka Gandhi dropped from BJP top body

  • Just hours after condemning the incident in Lakhimpur Kheri where a Union Minister's car killed four farmers, BJP's Varun Gandhi and his mother Maenka Gandhi were dropped off from the BJP's national executive committee.

  • BJP on Thursday announced a new national executive committee with 80 members, dropping two prominent leaders – party MP Varun Gandhi and former union minister Chaudhary Birender Singh, both of whom have been critical of the contentious farm laws.

  • Varun Gandhi's exclusion came as he had tweeted demanding for the accountability of the innocent blood of farmers. He wrote: "The video is crystal clear. Protestors cannot be silenced through murder. There has to be accountability for the innocent blood of farmers that has been spilled and justice must be delivered before a message of arrogance and cruelty enters the minds of every farmer."
