Afghanis try to flee the country as Taliban takes over

• Videos of people running to the airport in an attempt to fly out of the country can be seen all over the internet.

• A resident of Kabul stated, “There was a big panic in the people who were out on the streets. You could see literally hundreds and hundreds of people suddenly running in different directions.

• He added, “People were hoping to stop a cab, hoping to go somewhere, calling their relatives, stores were closing. I live above a bank. When I went downstairs, there were line out the door. A lot of the ATMs didn’t have cash.”

• On Sunday, Taliban fighters had surrounded Kabul and sought the unconditional surrender of the central government.

• People are afraid of what might happen to them now and are trying to flee the country. Photos of people inside US embassy trying to get visa came up on the internet.

• A spokesperson of Taliban stated, “We will respect rights of women… our policy is that women will have access to education and work, to wear the hijab.’

• He even said that no one should leave the country.
