Afghan girl rescued from being a child bride

• A US non-profit has rescued a nine-year-old Afghan girl who was sold by her father to a 55-year-old in Afghanistan.

• Parwana Malik was sold by her father for the equivalent of $1800 in land, cash and sheep to a man named Qorban so that her father could pay for food to feed the rest of their family.

• Parwana cried day and night before she was sold and used to beg her father to instead let her go to school to become a doctor.

• Too Young To Wed, a US-based charity helped free Parwana from the barbaric arrangement and her mother and siblings were moved from their camp to a safe house in Herat.
