Activist Stan Swamy who was arrested in Elgar Parishad Case; denied bail

  • Stan Swamy, a tribal rights activist arrested in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist connection case, was denied bail by a special NIA court in Mumbai on Monday.

  • Stan Swamy, 83, was denied bail on both merits and medical grounds by Additional Sessions Court Judge DE Kothalikar.

  • Stan Swamy, a Jesuit priest and protester, was detained in Ranchi in October 2020 and is currently being held at the Taloja Central Jail in Navi Mumbai.

  • Stan Swamy, according to his attorneys, has Parkinson's disease and has lost the capacity to hear with both ears. He also has a variety of other diseases.
