About the Youth Model Assembly organised in Gujarat
What: ‘Youth Model Assembly’ a special one-day event was organized today in the Gujarat Assembly as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, where students were to play the roles of the speaker, chief minister, leader of the opposition, and minister in the house.
Aim: The aim of the program is to make the younger generation aware of various parliamentary, and legislative procedures and to instill leadership qualities in them, assembly speaker Nimaben Acharya told reporters.
Mock Session: For the mock session, 182 school and college-going students, equivalent to the number of seats in the Gujarat Assembly, were selected from across the state to play the different roles in which, the students will engage in debate on a bill about the establishment of a sports university and on a government resolution on climate change.
“The students will also take part in question hour and debate on a budget just like we do during real Assembly session,” Acharya said.
