About the new Taliban order

• Taliban has order female new anchors to present news with their faces covered and if they fail to do so they will face punishment.

• When the order was announced on Thursday, several broadcasters had refused to follow it but they did end up following it on Sunday under pressure from the government.

• The female anchors were seen wearing hijabs and covering their mouths and noses as well while being on TV.

• Present Sonia Niazi said, “If such decrees are issued and imposed on women, then women across Afghanistan will be eliminated, as we see now that women are being gradually eliminated.”
