About the man who survived both the atomic bombings in Japan

• Two atomic bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan on August 6th, and 9th, which led to the deaths of hundred and thousands of people and left many seriously injured.

• There is one man who miraculously survived both the bombings and his name is Tsutomu Yamaguchi.

• Yamaguchi worked as a marine engineer at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and was based in Nagasaki but on 6th August he was in Hiroshima for work.

• Yamaguchi survived the first bombing and was left with ruptured eardrums, serious radiation burns and temporary blindness.

• After the incident, he retuned to Nagasaki and on 9th August another atomic bomb was dropped, only this time it was in Nagasaki.

• He managed to be unharmed by the second bombing but suffered high fever.

• Tsutomu Yamaguchi passed away in 2010 at the age of 93 and was recognized as a survivor of both the nuclear attacks.
