
A-G gives nod to initiate contempt proceedings against Kunal Kamra
On Thursday the Attorney General of India, K.K Venugopal gave nod to initiate criminal contempt action in the Supreme Court against stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra for a series of tweets which in which he has been accused of defaming the Supreme Court of India.
Attorney General Mr.Venugopal observed in his consent letter that the tweets “clearly cross the line between humour and contempt of court.” Further he also said that “I believe it is time people understand that attacking the Supreme Court unjustifiably and brazenly will attract punishment under Contempt of Court Act.”
