A covid-pill soon in the market?

  • After months of research, Merck and Pfizer have finally come out with pills taken orally as soon as the first symptoms of COVID-19 appear, to avoid serious forms of the illness, and therefore hospitalization.

  • Those who took molnupiravir saw that risk diminish by 50 per cent and those who took paxlovid by nearly 90 per cent, although direct comparisons of these efficacy rates should be avoided because of the different study protocols

  • The oral pills would be a step forward in the global fight against the coronavirus pandemic

  • The United Kingdom has already approved the drug. It has allowed the use for patients which are at risk of developing serious illness

  • Notably, the drug is yet to be approved in US however it has already purchased pills worth $!.2 billion
