900% Rise In Rejection Of Crop Insurance Claims
Under the central government’s Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), farmers can get their crops insured which can be claimed if any mishappenings take place.
In 2017-18, the number of claims rejected was 82,869 which almost doubled next year (2018-19) to 2.04 lakh.
In 2019-20, the number of claims rose by 900% to 9.28 lakh.
The Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar provided the data in response to a question asked by TMC MP Manas Ranjan Bhunia in the Rajya Sabha on Friday.
