8th Centre-Farmers meeting today. Check the latest updates
After the meeting on January 4 failed to achieve any resolution between the farmers and the Government, another meeting was scheduled for today- January 8.
The meeting which was scheduled for 2pm, started about 40 mins late as the ministers reached the Vigyan Bhavan later than the scheduled time.
As per updates, Agriculture minister Narendra Tomar asked unions to consider the interests of all states. Farmer unions have asked the government to let states bring in their own laws.
Farmer union leaders have reiterated the stance of ‘Bill Vaapis, toh hun Ghar Vaapis’- stating that they want nothing less than a repeal of the laws.
Deadlock continues as the farmer unions leaders haven’t stepped out of the hall for the lunch break- while ministers are out. farmer union leaders have opted for maun/silence while holding placards of dissent.
Meeting stands indecisive. Deadlock persists. Government has suggested SC’s decision on deadlock. Next meeting on January 15
