6 Assam Cops killed in border violence with Mizoram
Six Assam police officers were killed in a fresh round of violence that emerged at the disputed Assam-Mizoram border, informed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The CMs of the two states had also a verbal clash on Twitter where they posted different incidents of violence by residents of the other state.
Three Mizoram districts - Aizawl, Kolasib and Mamit - share a 164.6 km long inter-state border with Assam's Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj districts. There have been skirmishes at these areas of the border for years. Residents of these areas accuse each other for intrusion.
The Mizoram government had also constituted a committee for resolving the border disputes.
