50% Crash In Potato Prices To ₹5-6 Per Kg

  • According to the data released by the Union Food Processing ministry, the prices potato crashed by 50% to ₹5-₹6 per Kg in both the consuming as well as producing areas.

  • The prices in areas like Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar have seen a decline of almost 50%.

  • Drawing a comparison with rates during the same period last year, the prices of potato stood at ₹8-₹9 per Kg.

  • "We track prices from the consumer side. There is a very good potato harvest in line with what's been anticipated this time. There is good arrival in the mandi and retail prices are very good for consumers." Consumer Affairs Secretary Leena Nandan said.
