The meeting decided that 5% GST will be continued to charge on COVID-19 vaccines.
The council reduced tax from 12% to 5% on medical grade oxygen, COVID-19 testing kits, pulse oximeters, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, BiPAP machines, and high flow nasal cannula (HFNC) devices.
GST on hand sanitizers, temperature check equipment, and gas/electric/other furnaces for the crematorium, including their installation has been reduced from 18% to 5%.
GST on ambulances has been decreased from 28% to 12%.
The tax rate for Remdesivir has also been reduced from 12% to 5%.
Amphotericin B, the antifungal drug used for black fungus treatment, and Tocilizumab have been exempted from GST.
"Five percent GST on vaccines will stay. The Centre will buy the 75 percent vaccine as announced and will pay its GST too. But 70 percent of income from GST will be shared with states," Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said
These rate reductions and exemption will remain into force till 30th September,2021.
