₹31,000 Crores Of Disaster Funds Given To States In COVID-Era

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of India has released over ₹31,500 crores of the total allocated Disaster Response Fund (DRF) to the states and union territories.

  • The amount accounts for 50% of the total funds.

  • The amount has been spent for implementing COVID-19 containment measures that include setting up of quarantine centers, buying of medical equipment, providing for ambulances, and expenditure towards testing and tracing of cases.

  • Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal have got the highest share of the disaster response fund.
