₹2000 notes not printed in the last 2 years: Anurag Thakur

  • On Monday, the Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur informed in the Lok Sabha that ₹2000 notes have not been printed in the last 2 years.

  • He informed that 3362 million currency notes of ₹2000 were in circulation on 30th March 2018.

  • "During the years 2019-20 and 2020-21, no indent has been placed with the presses for printing of ₹2000 denomination banknotes," the minister said.

  • The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) informed that 3,542.991 million notes of ₹2,000 were printed during the financial year 2016-17.
