2 West Bengal ministers, 1 MLA arrested in Narada bribery case. Find out more

  • The Central Bureau of Investigation on Monday arrested newly appointed ministers Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee, and TMC MLA Madan Mitra. Along with these three, former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chattopadhyay- was also arrested in the Narada bribery case.

  • The move came after the Governor gave his consent to the CBI to file a chargesheet against the accused four and also sanctioned for them to be prosecuted.

  • All of the four accused were state ministers in 2016 wo were allegedly seen taking money in the Narada sting operation. The tapes were released just before the 2016 Assembly polls- following which the Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI investigation to it.

  • On hearing the news, CM Mamata Banerjee and other TMC leaders rushed to the CBI office and stated that the arrest was politically motivated.
