Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hosted prominent persons from the Sikh community, at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg.
During this meeting, PM Modi hailed the contributions of Sikh community to national integrity and prosperity.
The meeting comes just two days before Punjab is scheduled to go for its assembly elections. This is being seen as a measure by the BJP to vow the voters in Punjab, after the wave of dissatisfaction with the party regarding the farm laws.
Those who were part of the meeting stated that PM Modi in the interaction said he wants to work for the community everyday and regretted that the previous Congress dispensations lost opportunities to bring Sikhs' holy places like Kartarpur Sahib, which is in Pakistan, into Indian territory.
